Set 'userpanel_dir' variable in 'directories' section of lms.ini file. It should point to userpanel subdirectory in lms tree. Then you will be able to configure userpanel global settings and module settings directly from LMS (Userpanel left menu will come visible).

Also, are there any other modules available to use? Of course I have the modules that come with LMS, but are there some custom modules somewhere? I'd also like to write some own modules; one for Guest Vouchers in the Unifi system and I'd like users to be able to change and edit their nodes and node-information. Is there already a module for customer nodes in the userpanel?

If there are (probably someone has module similar to your need), I don't know about that so it isn't officially distributed with lms. Simple customer node viewing is possible from existing 'info' userpanel module. You can use this module as a base for your own module with all needed features adding them yourself.
